The War Room

The War Room
The War Room

“Our Mind is a Battlefield by itself. We are at war with our thoughts in our minds”

The above quote reminds me of all the small and big battles I have fought all my life until now. It makes me realize that our lives are nothing but a war field and we are at war with ourselves more than anyone else today every moment of our lives. Scriptures say that when this world was build and man was made by God, we were told to enjoy this nature and take complete control of it, but today man who was supposed to be the wisest of all animals is so lost in his own web of thoughts in his mind that it takes him an entire lifetime to fight his demons and come out victorious at the end of his life.

We all have our spaces and we all have our war rooms in life, where we fight with our thoughts, our feelings, our emotions, our temptations and much more. During the 1st world war and the 2nd world war, war rooms were created to build up strategies and combat the enemy. These rooms were filled with experienced soldiers who would give their inputs on how to go about and strategize to win the war. These rooms used to be filled with courage and the will to defeat the enemy and most importantly stay alive at the end of the day. Today, we are rather staying in a safe zone in our homes and in our offices. But even today, we have our own fair share of war rooms in our lives. I believe everyone should have one. Without one, it would just not be possible to move on with this god forsaken life.

We are staying in a society where success is everything and there is no meaning to life. People shed more flowers when someone close to us passes away rather than when someone is born. A mindset that says stress is the new trend and if you are not busy or stressed out then maybe you are not doing enough in life. A society where every 40 seconds, a person commits suicide and one in every three people have either had the thought or attempted to end one’s life once and for all. There is just one question to ask you here “Why are we here on this earth? What is our aim in our life? “We may have answers and solutions to everything in life; however most of us do not have any answer to this question. The day you get to know of this answer, you will no longer need a war room in your life.

We need to understand that we are here for a brief period of time. We are just like that popup on your laptop. It comes up and shows itself for a few seconds and disappears. We are nothing more than that. Today we are here talking to each other, the very next moment we may not be here in the present. What matters at the end of the day is what we do for ourselves and for the good of others. Being kind and passionate about what you wish to do in your life are the only things that keep us going. Every man or woman thinks their footprint is critical on this earth. Do you know that you are just one tiny micro spec in this entire galaxy? yet we think of man as the most powerful being on earth? The only thing that defines us today is our intellect and unfortunately today it’s our own intellect that has turned against us, hence the need for a WAR ROOM.

Here are a few situations that may force you into your own personal WAR ROOM:

  • Depression and Mental Illness

  • Trauma

  • Substance Use

  • Ending an important relationship

  • Job Loss

  • Financial problems

  • Academic failure

  • Losing social or family acceptance

  • Shaming, or humiliation, including cyber bullying which is the most recent one

  • Being arrested or imprisoned

  • Hopelessness

  • Physical Ailments

  • Feeling like a burden to others

  • Social Isolation

  • Cry for Help

We often misunderstand a WAR ROOM for a negative place from where no solution can be sorted out. However, it is exactly the opposite. It is the only place you would want to be during crises so that you can make wise decisions and gain control of your life. A WAR ROOM helps you to analyse every situation and take every suggestion into consideration without being under the influence of anyone or anything in this world. The sole decision lies upon you. The only person who can get you out of the situation at that time is no one but yourself.

No matter how good you wish to be, there will always be someone who will be better than you. No matter how bad you are with your work, there is always someone who is less good than you. No matter how many ups and down you have in your life, there is always someone who is living a less good life than you are. Never compare your life with others. Everyone shall have their time to shine and make themselves proud in this world.

A few quotes from one of my favorite author may help you in deciding how life is for you and not against you.

“One mistake does not have to rule a person's entire life.” ― Joyce Meyer

“Our past may explain why we're suffering but we must not use it as an excuse to stay in bondage.” ― Joyce Meyer

You cannot have a positive life and a negative mind.”
― Joyce Meyer

“You have to realize that you don't have someone else's life and you’re never going to. You better start loving the one you got. Do not embarrass the life you have and stop wishing that you could be someone else.”
― Joyce Meyer

Always remember your WAR ROOM is your tool to a better life. It is not a permanent situation. I hope this article encourages you to continue your life even though it’s not going as planned by you. Do remember that all problems come to an end at some point in time. It’s just a matter of time when you shall look back at your past and realize how silly these problems were and how these problems in life helped you grow not just as a better person but the best version of yourself.
