Patience Is The Key To Win

Patience Is The Key To Win
Patience Is The Key To Win

Since childhood, I have always been hearing that patience is one virtue that everyone must possess in their lifetime. Right from grandparents to parents, from teachers to other elders in the family, each one of them have stressed a lot on the importance of patience. It’s critical to know that not everyone is born with patience as a virtue in their life. For some like me, patience has been a continuous process. It’s about developing this quality in ourselves at every stage of our lives. Though we have always been made to realize how vital patience is, we have never been told how, when and where to apply it. This is what this article is all about.

In this fast paced world, settling for less is no more an option for some and this attitude towards life gives into patience. Right from waking up to getting things done, every action is expected to be quick and immediate results are expected. Whether it’s about waiting for an Uber or waiting in a queue to pay the bills, life is getting more and more impatient day by day. The need for instant gratification is leading us to become a generation that is way more impatient than the previous one. Basically your lack of patience is affecting you more negatively than you can imagine. Just like smoking a cigarette, nothing happens at the moment, but overtime it’s just making your body hollow. The desperate need for materialistic satisfaction today is causing all the frustration thus leading you to lose everything and more importantly your inner self. Today everyone is making quick decisions without even trying which in turn leads to failures and failures lead to people judging themselves way too early in life.

There is just one mantra for the current millennial generation

“If you wish to win big, work hard and be patient”

You need to push yourself to be patient as it will give you the excuse to take risks. Time is your biggest asset in the game of patience. Gather as many experiences as possible. There is no need to rush. It’s just a matter of time that success will come to you, once you have learnt your craft like no one else. This is what will showcase you apart from everyone else. Take me as an example: I am currently 35 years old. If you are 20 years old and reading this article right now, you have 15 more years to go and learn 15 different things to make it work for you. 99% of the people who win are ready to grind themselves and put in the hard work. Also, they never forget to be patient until their time has come. They are not in for a short time goal. The biggest question you need to ask yourself is what is the hurry all about? You have your entire life ahead of you. You often buy expensive things to make your friends or neighbors jealous but this is not going to help you win big.

Always remember no matter how unsuccessful you are today, it’s never too late to make your life better than it was yesterday. The most important thing is to start right now. What are you going to do when you are 80 years old? You won’t have the time or the energy to build a company and put in those hours at work. If you do not start today, then the only thing you will face in future is regret and regret is painful. Patience is like feeding yourself with all the right things until the big day arrives. It’s no more a secret but this is the new practicality. It did not take us 10 days to go from the Stone Age to the current computer age. It took decades and a lot of patience.

Each one of us can improvise on patience in 3 basic ways:

Patience Towards Ourselves:

It’s scientifically proven that those with patience lead a better health and lifestyle. Slowing down, thinking before acting & expressing gratitude are some of the key factors for learning the art of patience for oneself. Each one of us is different from the other. There are no two individuals existing in this world with the same abilities or gifts granted to them. Try being mindful in everything you do, It will not only make you feel content but the satisfaction is worthwhile. Spend time alone. Understand your strengths & weaknesses. Take the plunge when the time is right. Being patient with you is nothing more than dealing with your own thoughts and emotions. Practice self-awareness in those moments where you feel the need for patience the most.

Patience Towards Others:

Practicing patience with people around us is a different ball game altogether. People are always acting in a way that may not be agreeable to you. Obviously it’s because they are not you nor will they ever be. Dealing with others is always a challenge since everyone has the right to express themselves in their own way. Even the pace at which we move ahead in life may not match. For some people time is everything while some do not have any value for time. Instead of getting frustrated, we can use that time to our own advantage to learn something new. One important thing to realize here is that no matter how different we are from each other, the world is always moving ahead in a structured pattern. The more we show patience and compassion towards others, the more it will help us in the longer run. Always keep this one thing in mind that others are also growing in patience just like you.

Patience Towards Life:

Gaining patience is the highest level of transformation you can bring into your life. Whether it’s a guru or a yogi, they have all been able to achieve that level of patience hence people go to them for wisdom.

You have two options :

  • Give into the frustration OR
  • Deal with it with patience

Life will always throw things at you throughout the course of your life. However, practicing patience shifts your attention away from the stress and frustration. It’s a way of telling yourself that you are in-charge. You are in no hurry or distress. The universe will always respond to this attitude with support and cooperation which will eventually lead to having control on your life.

Friends, true progress happens when you are patient. You don’t have to feel that you are behind someone. You are just where you need to be and your time will come to shine. Until then practice patience and be humble. Things will fall into place all by itself. The day you feel the height of achievement, you will realize it was all for the good. I really hope this article resonates with each one of you in these difficult times.
